Maria is an HR seasoned professional who has developed her knowledge of Human Resources
through 20+ years of experience as well as through extensive training and independent study.  
Maria spent over 14 years with a local engineering firm, creating its HR department to service a
staff that grew from 21 employees when she arrived to a burgeoning 321 in a fourteen year
period. Maria’s current consulting work has focused on working independently with start-up and
smaller companies, guiding them to formalize their policies and processes to ensure their
compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws. 

She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and her Master of Science
in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix while working full time;
accomplishing GPA’s of 3.76 and 3.78 respectively, earning her an invitation to join the Delta
Mu Delta Honor Society. In addition, Maria has earned certifications from the Society of Human
Resource Management as a Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and from the Human Resources
Certification Institute as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).  Maria has also earned two
credentials from the Society of Human Resource Management in People Analytics and in
Inclusive Workplace Culture.  She is currently seeking her SHRM Caltech Advanced Technology
credential.

Maria has knowledge of employment laws in Louisiana, California, New York, Florida,
Mississippi, and Texas.  In her spare time, she loves to read, take long bicycle rides, and spend
time on the family boat.  She has three very spoiled cats who keep her busy on a regular basis. 
Her passion for HR encourages her to stay current on employment law trends and best practices
because she understands that clients place their trust in her; and she does not want to ever
disappoint them.
